What is a Grocery Merchandiser?

A Grocery Merchandiser works within our clients stores to partner with our customer employees and grow brand awareness. The Fresh Foods Technician will be an “expert” in merchandising and setup of Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli lines. You will also act as a lead by sharing your expertise and product knowledge with customer associates to become equipped to handle the intricacies of the department.

 

The Impact of a Grocery Merchandiser?

The Grocery Merchandiser is the face of Acosta for both the retailer and the client. You will directly impact sales by raising brand awareness, introducing new products into stores, increasing in store inventory & building relationships. You will also influence & educate store associates to help our client reach their fullest potential.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and Teach customer employees to ensure our client’s team is equipped with knowledge to support the Fresh Foods, Bakery, and/or Deli department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Independently Travel and visit stores to fulfill client/customer requirements. You will schedule travel in advance with an agenda for the desired objectives for each visit.
  • Be a part of new store openings/remodels. Aid in setting cases to plan-o-grams and/or support production, keeping up with demand alongside teaching associates the proper steps and sharing helpful tips.
  • Introduce new brands/products to stores. Become a “matter expert” representing Acosta & our client’s brands, share product benefits, set goals to increase supply/demand in stores.
  • Maintain product displays, new item set ups, tracking and analysis, manuals, and merchandising tools for specific categories as needed, seasonally and according to business needs.
  • Building relationships within stores and with associates, knowing and representing the brands in the store, share tips to increase sales or new product offerings.

Qualifications

  1. Valid driver’s license, High school diploma, or GED required.
  2. Ability to freely and as part of a team set up displays, take part in resets and remodels.
  3. Understanding & knowledge of Fresh Foods, Bakery, and/or Deli operations and production.
  4. Three years of technical experience in core retail Fresh Foods and/or Bakery and/or Deli operations preferred.
